The Story

The Mumblebone sheep were relocated to Wellington in 1996 after the Taylor Family purchased the well renowned stud from the Rutledge Family at Warren. This move coincided with a new way of thinking when it came to breeding sheep & has since seen Mumblebone evolve to become Australia’s leading source of high performance merino genetics.

At the time of purchase, the Taylor families were jointly running 28,000 sheep, including their own ram breeding program, as well as 1000 cows . Having been approached to buy Mumblebone in its entirety, the Taylor’s saw this as an opportunity to fast-track their ram breeding goals as well as expand their longstanding passion for merino sheep.

To accommodate the stud purchase, more country was locally acquired & after two generations of successful family succession, it is now Chad & Louise Taylor who own & operate this long standing stud with their three children & dedicated team.

Heather grew up at Mt Kuring-gai on the outskirts of Sydney & we are still not sure where her fascination with agriculture came from.

Heather attended Tocal College for two years to complete her Cert 3 & Cert 4 in agriculture. This led her to working on a large sheep and cattle property south of Yass for two years as a Station Hand before taking on her current role at Mumblebone as our Stocky.
